February, 2015 A year & a half after moving to Bracebridge, I started resurrecting the Southwood & Macey Bay model railroad. This page will be a step by step collection of photos of the construction over the weeks or months (or years). The latest photos are here.

Next is to wire the switches But before, I wanted to remove 2 'S' curves. These can cause derailments, and look bad.

Time being spent changing the couplers on the cars Only about 1/3 of the cars had been done

Moving along Giving a view of what's here so far All these cars have their couplers done, finally

Reparing tracks too close together The siding at Little Chute was on a curve, and it got too close for 2 trains So I rearranged the curve

Reparing track too high The high track was too steep, and the locomotives had trouble pulling cars up So I lowered the highest point down an inch And reduced the grade up & down to 1.7% Reparing the dip The dip was causing cars to uncouple as the train when down & back up

Start of water Muskoka water is black Starting with the fascia Fascia is the border around the edge of a layout To make it more neat

Fascia is installed, needs painting yet

The last pieces are now in place Update - Nothing to show for almost a year. Been working on getting remote throttles functioning properly. And running trains to get the bugs out

I decided to paint the ground brown to make it look more 'real'. I think it worked quite well. ;)
